You may have noticed that sigma (Σ, σ, ς) has three forms. A capital form (Σ), a form to be used within words (σ), and a final form to be used at the end of a word (ς).

Whilst most people will not need to know Greek symbols, they can be useful to know, especially when reading mathmetical and scientific papers. Should you ever find yourself travelling the islands of the Aegean, you will also benefit enormously from being able to read the signs, menus and posters in Greek.
